ABOUT JAMIE

Jamie D. Clark brings more than two decades of firsthand fire and emergency services experience to grant writing, consulting, training, and public safety leadership. His career in the fire service began in 1992 at just 16 years old as a junior firefighter, running to the firehouse or riding his bike with no brakes for emergency calls and whenever the alarm sounded. That early experience instilled in him a lifelong commitment to public safety and a deep understanding of the dedication required of those who serve their communities.

Jamie went on to become the fifth career firefighter hired by the Willingboro Fire Department in 1999 and progressed through the ranks from entry-level firefighter to Deputy Fire Chief, ultimately overseeing fire and EMS operations prior to his retirement in 2020. Throughout his career, he completed extensive fire service training covering emergency response, fire suppression, incident command, fireground operations, emergency medical services, leadership, personnel safety, hazardous incidents, and other critical areas of emergency response. Completing a grant writing course through American Grant Writers provided him with a stronger understanding of the grant writing process and valuable insight into navigating the complex world of funding opportunities.

As a grant writer for the department, Jamie played an instrumental role in securing funding for a fire safety trailer, equipment, training, and other critical public safety needs. This experience gave him something that cannot be learned from a grant application alone: a firsthand understanding of what happens when a department has a critical need but limited resources—and how difficult it can be to find the time, expertise, and funding necessary to address it.

Today, Jamie serves as a Senior Consultant and Grant Writer with MM&C Consulting LLC, specializing in public safety funding. His expertise includes federal, state, and local grants and funding opportunities, with a particular focus on helping fire departments, EMS agencies, emergency services organizations, and nonprofits identify and pursue funding that can strengthen their operations.

It was the combination of more than 20 years of fire service experience, leadership, extensive emergency management and public safety training, and firsthand experience securing grants and managing funding that led him to establish Jamie D. Clark Grant Writing & Consulting LLC. Having experienced the challenges that departments face when budgets are limited, Jamie created his consulting practice to provide organizations with practical and affordable access to grant writing, funding research, and strategic consulting services.
